Welcome to

Center for Ecological Research

                 and BioResources Development

                   (CERBRD)

The research and commercial activities of CERBRD are aligned across five broad areas of core competence:

  • Microbial diversity collection and identification; discovery of novel bioactive compounds for production of new products

  • Environmental  bioremediation

  • Education

  • Scientific services

  • International cooperation in environmental biotechnology, biodiversity, and biosafety.

Our mission:

  • Carry out multidisciplinary research for the acquisition of novel scientific knowledge and technical know-how.

  • Develop advanced technologies based on biological systems and develop innovative integrated processes for the bioremediation of contaminated sites and biological treatment of industrial effluents.

  • Mitigate critical threats to global biological and cultural diversity by advancing scientific research in diverse ecosystems, strengthening the application of science to conservation practice and public policy.

  •  Teach and train environmental scientists and engineers at undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate level.

  • Promote international cooperation by organization of joint projects and programs, international conferences and workshops, negotiations and contracting.

  • Serve as a provider of data.

  • 2008 Science and Education for Biosafety

In education and training, CERBRD’s goal is to:

  • Create a pool of skilled practitioners that meet the needs of industry and find new career paths in industry.

  • Training in other, non-scientific areas such as proposal writing, IP management and commercialization.

CERBRD is the host of annual international conferences on science and business:
  • 2004, Issues and Solutions in Discovery and Use of Novel Biomolecules: Biodiversity, Environment, Biomedicine

  • 2005, Biotechnology, Biomedicine, Environment

  • 2006, International Cooperation in Biotechnology : Expectations and Reality

  • 2007, Nanobio- and Related New and Perspective Biotechnologies

  • 2008, Science and Education for Biosafety
